FESTIVALS & ACTIVITIES
MOSELFEST
The Mosel Festival in Winningen is celebrated every year over a period of 10 days and is the oldest wine festival in Germany. It is organized by Moselfest Winningen e.V. in cooperation with the municipality.
The festival starts with a ceremonial opening by the municipality and the local association in Winningen. Numerous personalities from the fields of politics, business and culture take part in this event. Well known throughout the region and a must for wine lovers!
STEILLAGENFEST
Experience wine directly at its place of origin. In the impressive vineyards of Winningen, winegrowers and innkeepers offer a wide selection of delicacies from the wine cellar and the house.
Connoisseurs can taste the wines of the winegrowers on the steep slope hiking trail while enjoying the beautiful view of the vineyard. The festival takes place every year on Saturday and Sunday. The organizers look forward to welcoming wine and hiking enthusiasts.
The approximately 3.5 km long hiking trail is one of the most beautiful on the Moselle and offers a breathtaking view of the Moselle valley. The spotlight is on Riesling – the master of white wines.
LAMPIONFEST
The “Mosel im Feuerzauber” is not only a highlight at the Mosel Festival. On many weekends, the people of Winningen show how much they love to celebrate and always extend a warm welcome to guests. Wine naturally plays the central role – no wonder in a community with 1,700 years of winegrowing tradition. The whole village lives from wine and at the same time looks to the future. A new, young and well-trained generation of winegrowers is ready to continue the success story of “Winningen wine”.
WINNINGEN IN A BLAZE OF LIGHT
Every year, Winningen welcomes visitors to the festive Advent market “Winningen im Lichterglanz”. Organized by the Winningen im Lichterglanz e.V. association, the event offers a magical atmosphere and heralds the anticipation of Christmas. Friday starts with an atmospheric torchlight walk through the romantic vineyards, which bathes the village in warm light. On Saturday, stilt walkers in glowing costumes provide fascinating moments in the streets. Musical performances by various choirs and music groups spread festive sounds, while the market stalls offer regional specialties and winter delicacies to enjoy.
ART DAYS WINNINGEN E.V.
More than a decade has passed since Birgitt Schaaf had the idea of bringing modern art by international artists to life in a small Moselle village. The former restaurateur and gallery owner wanted to realize a creative project in her retirement and revitalize the art scene in her home community. The next Art Days will take place from May 8 to 10, 2026.
Together with other art enthusiasts, Schaaf initiated exhibitions in unusual locations in the village. This innovative concept met with a great response and has since been supported by Prof. Dr. Beate Reifenscheid, Director of the Ludwig Museum in Koblenz, as patron.
