DREAM PATH - “MOSELTRAUM” WINNINGEN

WINNINGEN WINE TRAILS
There are now five new hiking trails around Winningen that enrich the experience of the Terrassenmosel. Hikers will soon be able to learn more about the wine, its origins and the soils on a virtual wine trail.
The Winningen wine trails offer a modern combination of hiking, cultural landscape and wine enjoyment. Five new routes have been developed, which are based on the vineyards and present the cultural wine landscape in a new way. The aim is to bring visitors of all ages closer to nature and wine culture, with a special focus on the “Living Moselle Vineyards” and their biodiversity.
LONG-DISTANCE HIKING TRAILS
Winningen is an important hub for several long-distance hiking trails, with the Moselsteig Trail and the Rhine-Burgen Trail standing out in particular.
The Moselsteig Trail, known as one of the most beautiful hiking trails in Germany, leads over 365 kilometers in 24 stages from Luxembourg to Koblenz to the Deutsches Eck. It has been honored with prestigious awards such as “Qualitätsweg Wanderbares Deutschland” and “Leading Quality Trail – Best of Europe”. Winningen is an excellent starting point on the way to Trier and is also a popular stopover for hikers on the way to Koblenz.

WINNINGER VINEYARD TERRACES
The “Living Moselle Vineyards” stretch from Winningen to Luxembourg and mark special places along the Moselle. At some of these places, “light points” are installed to draw attention to the diversity of the characteristic habitats and the rare animals and plants that live there. These light points are like treasure troves of the wine-growing landscape.
In Winningen, there is one such light point along the Brückstücksweg, which represents the “Winninger vineyard terraces”. It is made of greywacke, the characteristic “stone of the Moselle”. This beacon embodies the unique landscape of the terraced Moselle.
