Maria Laach
Welcome to the largest nature reserve in Rhineland-Palatinate!
Here in the east of the Vulkaneifel, between the Rhine, Moselle & Ahr, you will find the Laacher See. This lake, covering around 3.3 square kilometers, is a certified favorite lake in our state, as it serves as a popular recreational area in the summer.
10,000 years ago, the volcanoes were still active. Today, this landscape radiates a tangible sense of tranquility and relaxation.
Especially in summer, the area attracts swimmers, boaters, and hikers.
You can easily reach the Laacher See valley via the A61.
Even during the protected season from October to March, the Laacher See valley remains a place worth visiting. The Benedictine Abbey Maria Laach is a monastery by the lake, which owns the Laacher See area.
Particularly impressive is the heart of the monastery complex, the six-towered basilica. Let yourself be inspired by this place and also visit the monastery restaurant Maria Laach.
