General information

Directions

Start in Winningen – finish at the Deutsches Eck

The stage begins at Winningen train station and leads through the narrow streets of the wine village up into the vineyards. A serpentine path opens up magnificent views of the valley before you reach the Domgartenhütte – an ideal resting place with a view of the Moselle and the vineyards.

Together with the RheinBurgenWeg, the trail runs along the edge of the slope, crosses a side valley and leads through meadows and vineyards to the L 125. After a short section of road, the trail climbs again. From the highest point, you can enjoy a panoramic view upstream before the path branches off into the forest to Hexenhügel – a place with a memorial stone for the witch persecutions.

A narrow path leads you to the Koblenz/Winningen airfield, but soon you are back along the edge of the slope with magnificent views. The Winningen vineyard terraces, habitat of rare species such as the Apollo butterfly, offer an impressive landscape. This is followed by a steep descent to the Moselsteig Trail, which now runs gently downstream.

Past blossoming fruit trees and through Güls with its famous cherries, you reach the Groß-Heiligenhäuschen – the official end point of the Moselsteig Trail. From here, the Moselsteig Trail access logos guide you to the banks of the Moselle. After crossing the Güls railroad bridge, you walk along the towpath directly alongside the Moselle. If you want to discover even more, you can visit the Mosellum before the route takes you through the old town of Koblenz. Finally, you reach the crowning glory of your hike: the Deutsches Eck, where the Moselle and Rhine meet.
